Just a quick note, today.
After a long journey to get Toucan open and then grand-opened in our new location, and after hosting a whole lot of people in various events over the last couple of weeks, including that Grand Opening and the opening of the BIRD(S)show, along with hosting the Billings Public Library Foundation board and An Evening with Montana PBS, well, Allison and I are going to take a couple of days off.
Toucan will be closed for the Fourth of July, of course, but then we’re going to be closed on Friday and Saturday, as well. Which means we’ll see everybody next week, and be open with regular hours again starting Tuesday, July 9.
If you haven’t checked out the BIRD(S) show, I’ll just remind everyone that it’s up through the end of this month. Even if you’re not interested in purchasing anything, it’s a pretty cool show to see, as it’s always interesting to have 40 different interpretations of one particular theme all up at once.
As always, thanks to everyone, including all the readers of this newsletter, who have made Toucan part of their world. In uncertain times, we must hang onto whatever the things that give our lives meaning and joy, whatever the calm we can conjure that might provide refuge from the storm. I’m working on something about beauty, which is important and part of it too, and something that has been sacrificed in this age of...what? Did you know that according to a Harvard Crimson survey that in 2023 more than 40 percent of Harvard graduates went into finance and consulting? That can’t be right, can it be? Surely, they meant art and music and filmmaking and dance?
Anyway, have a great holiday and weekend, and we’ll see you next week!
Congratulations and definitely some well earned days off. I haven’t been in the shop yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing it.
